Apple released on Tuesday an update to its data synchronization software iSync that adds support for more than 20 cell phones. The company has also published an update to its Bluetooth software to provide enhanced support for certain phone models, and it’s recommended for iSync 1.1 users.
The 4.3MB update provides enhanced stability and support for several Symbian OS-based mobile phones, according to Apple. That list includes the Nokia 3650, Nokia 7650 and Sony Ericsson P800 models.
Bluetooth is a wireless personal area networking (PAN) standard that enables devices to communicate with each other over short distances. The standard is gaining momentum as a way for computers to communicate with peripherals like printers and devices like cell phones and PDAs.
Bluetooth technology is built-in to Apple’s 12 and 17-inch PowerBooks and select iMac and Power Mac G4 models. You can also add Bluetooth yourself using a third-party USB adapter. For more general information about Bluetooth, visit Apple’s Web site.
You can download the new version through the Software Update System Preferences pane.
