On Tuesday Apple released iSync 1.1, a major improvement to its data synchronization software. The new version added support for new types of cell phones and now syncs Safari bookmarks through .Mac accounts. If you’re using a Palm OS-based PDA, you should also upgrade to iSync Palm Conduit 1.1, available for download through Apple’s Web site.
Palm Conduit enables Palm PDAs to work with iSync through the HotSync Manager application. The software synchronizes Address Book contacts, iCal calendars, and To Do information on the Palm device.
Version 1.1 offers both performance and stability improvements over iSync 1.0 Palm Conduit. What’s more, it’s required for iSync 1.1, according to Apple, so if you’re suddenly having problems getting your PDA to sync with iSync since upgrading to iSync 1.1, this may explain why.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.2.5 or later, iCal 1.0.2, iSync 1.1, and Palm Desktop 4.0 or later.
