Focus Enhancements Inc. has announced the FireStore FS-3, a portable DV disk recorder. The new device was introduced at this week’s InfoComm Convention in Orlando, Fl.
The FireStore FS-3 is a two-pound device that attaches to pro DV camcorders like those from Sony, Canon, Ikegami, Panasonic and other manufacturers. The device sports a FireWire interface and can use Anton Bauer, V-Mount or NP style battery systems. It integrates electronic shock protection, a control panel with backlit LCD, 4-pin XLR power input, 6-pin Firewire drive connection and video I/O port.
Using the FireStore, DV cameramen can record video, audio and timecode directly to removable FireWire disk drives. The technology supports DV-OMF for Avid Xpress DV, QuickTime, AVI 2, Canopus and Matrox AVI and more. Recording in native non-linear editing formats using FireStore eliminates the need to capture and convert files before editing.
The FireStore FS-3 ships with a 40GB FSHDD-1 FireWire disk drive. Focus expects the new system to be available this summer — pricing was not immediately available. Additional storage is available up to 80GB.
