Xnet Communications has added support for Mac OS X to NetOp Remote Control with its recent release of version 7.6. The software now lets you access your Mac desktop from a Windows or Linux PC via a remote control session.
The link is done via TCP/IP, so it doesn’t matter whether the Windows or Linux system sits next to the Mac or is far away. As long as you can establish a TCP/IP connection, you can access your own desktop. The software consists of two parts: Host software installed on your Mac and Guest software installed on a PC.
Version 7.6 adds new security enhancements. And with the NetOp Remote Control upgrade, you can use a Windows CE based PDA (personal digital assistant) to remote control a Mac.
The new version of NetOp Remote Control also purportedly offers performance spikes of up to 40 percent on some LAN configurations. Additionally, version 7.6 adds directory service name resolving via LDAP, auto-authentication, and tweaked file transfer capabilities.
NetOp Remote Control 7.6 costs US$170 for a “Start Pack” that consists of one guest and one host license. A single host from a 10-user pack is $75.
