Graphics chip and card maker ATI Technologies Inc. has introduced its Remote Wonder for Mac users. It’s a Radio Frequency (RF)-based remote control that connects to the Mac through USB, enabling Mac users to playback movies, operate presentations, or surf the Web wirelessly.
Remote Wonder sports integrated mouse control and also features programmable macro buttons. As an RF-based device, the Remote Wonder also operates through walls, according to ATI. The Remote Wonder has been developed to support software including Apple’s own DVD Player, QuickTime Player, Keynote and Safari applications, as well as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and PowerPoint applications.
Shaped like a conventional home entertainment remote control, the Remote Wonder sports a large thumb pad that controls cursor movements. You can use one of six different macro keys to program specific controls or sequences of operations that you’ll commonly use. The device also features capabilities like volume control, muting and more.
The Remote Wonder was first introduced to ATI’s PC customers last year, designed to support the multimedia capabilities of the company’s All-in-Wonder cards. Although similar technology exists from other third parties, this is the first application of Remote Wonder for the Macintosh.
The Remote Wonder carries a suggested retail price of US$49. It can be ordered directly through ATI’s Web site.
