AFP548.com has released VaporSec 1.0. It’s a freeware IPSec configuration utility for Mac OS X.
IPSec, or IP Security, is a method of secure data transmission used by Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). VaporSec enables Mac OS X users to configure their systems to handle connections to multiple IPSec gateways or other Mac OS X systems. It has support for certificates that use the common X.509 standard.
The 1.0 release sports support for Check Point, SonicWall, Linksys and Draytek routers and firewalls. The developers noted that VaporSec should also work with most standards-compliant IPSec devices.
Released as freeware, VaporSec’s source code is also available upon request. The developers also encourage users or other developers interested in improving VaporSec to get in touch to lend their expertise.
