The Art Institutes, a system of 28 schools located throughout North America, plans to migrate 3,000 of their Macs to Mac OS X. The decision to move to the next generation operating system came after
it was announced that QuarkXPress 6, the long-awaited Mac OS X native version of the document publishing application, will ship this week.
“This new release eliminates our use of Classic mode applications and enables The Art Institutes to migrate all of our Apple-based computer labs to Mac OS X, delivering smoother connectivity, greater performance, and an overall more reliable environment,” David Pauldine, president of The Art Institutes, said in a statement regarding the migration.
The Art Institutes system offers career-oriented education programs for design, media arts, fashion and culinary professionals. It’s a branch company of Education Management Corp., a provider of private post-secondary education in North America.
