Looking for a compact 2.1 audio system for your Mac? Altec Lansing on Wednesday announced the VS4121 system — it’s a powered 2.1 audio speaker system that includes two satellite speakers and a subwoofer.
Each satellite sports a 3-inch downfiring mid-bass driver combined with two 28mm full range neodymium micro-drivers. The satellites are paired to a long-throw subwoofer, and all feature an angular, low-profile design. The system sports 31 watts RMS of total continuous power — 6 watts/channel for each front speaker and 9 watts to the subwoofer.
The VS4121 also sports built-in bass, treble and volume controls mounted on one satellite along with a headphone jack. They’re shielded for use near video monitors, and come with color-coded cables.
The VS4121 will work with any computer or device equipped with a headphone jack, from Mac to iPod. It’s expected to ship this month to retailers throughout the US. The VS4121 carries a suggested retail price of US$129.95.
