PreSonus Audio Electronics Inc.
on Friday announced that Mac OS X drivers now support its FIREstation interface. The FIREstation is a FireWire-based audio workstation with eight channels of analog I/O and eight channels of ADAT I/O.
In fact, the drivers to get the FIREstation to work are included with Mac OS X 10.2.5 and higher: They’re accessible through Apple’s own Audio MIDI Setup application. The drivers work with Cubase SX, Nuendo 2.0, Deck, Peak and Logic software, according to PreSonus. The company also plans to list new software applications on its Web site as they are approved.
The FIREstation combines balanced and unbalanced analog and ADAT, S/PDIF and MIDI I/O. You can use it to plug in mics, instruments and external preamps, monitoring them in real-time with zero-latency. The FIREstation also supports mLAN-compatible keyboards like Yamaha’s Motif or Korg’s Triton Studio. Data is then transferred to your Mac through FireWire.
