Storage manufacturer LaCie on Monday announced a new 60GB Pocket Drive at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference being held in San Francisco, Calif.
The 7200rpm drive weighs in at 12.5 ounces and is small enough to fit into your pocket. The drive features a silicone shell around its sides that absorb shocks and is slotted with grooves allowing for cord wrapping/storage.
“Our new rugged Pocket Drive provides a unique combination of features including mobility, high-speed and capacity,” said Olivier Mirloup, LaCie Senior Product Manager. “With 60GB of capacity and 7200rpm, the Pocket Drive is ideal for storage, backup and data-exchange.”
The Pocket Drive is compatible with both Macs and PCs through FireWire and USB 2.0 interfaces.
The LaCie Pocket Drive 60GB 7200rpm will be available in July 2003 with prices beginning at $439. LaCie’s Pocket Drive line also includes 20GB and 40GB models starting at $159. Drives ship with a 6-to-6 pin FireWire cable and USB 2.0 certified cable, optional power supply, Silverlining and SilverKeeper. The LaCie Pocket Drive requires Mac OS 9.x or greater.
