Raid ToolKit 3.0 will soon be available from FWB Software Inc. The latest version of the storage management solution features enhancements for including RAID Level 5 support and an improved caching algorithm for single and RAID setups.
Raid Toolkit is designed to optimize the performance of most SCSI, IDE, and FireWire devices. Using RTK to combine three or more drives together provides data-redundancy by writing all data to all the drives on the fly, which protects the data in real-time.
This latest version enhances the available RAID systems available for the Xserve and Power Mac users, according to FWB Software. It incorporates FWB’s NXRAID technology (which was recently acquired from NYRO Technix Inc.). RTK offers partition-based RAID for IDE, FireWire, SCSI, and Fibre Channel systems running Mac OS X (10.2.1 or higher) in both the desktop and server versions of the operating system. Raid Toolkit 3.0 also requires at least three drives — and can support up to 30 .
Raid Toolkit 3.0 has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$99.95. The product will ship on June 30. Former users of the NXRAID technology will continue to receive support and access to crossgrades to the Raid Toolkit product updates.
