At this weeks Worldwide Developers Conference, Blacksmith is offering a sneak preview of Querysmith, their upcoming database query and reporting application. The company is also demonstrating the AppleScript interface of their Chartsmith charting and graphing product for Mac OS X.
Querysmith will provide point and click access to data stored in any relational database. It will also offer a set of data aggregation and formatting features for creating customized reports. Pricing and availability haven’t been announced.
Chartsmith’s AppleScript dictionary offers commands that support bulk data loads and license detection. License detection lets AppleScript developers detect if Chartsmith is running in demo mode, in which case image export isn’t allowed. However, charts created through the Applescript can be viewed directly in Chartsmith even if the application is running in demo mode.
A demo version of Chartsmith is available for download. The application costs US$129; educational discounts are available at a cost of $99 for faculty members and $69 for students.
