will showcase a variety of K-12 education software solutions, based on FileMaker Pro 6 and designed for both teachers and administrators, at next week’s National Educational Computing Conference (NECC).
FileMaker Pro is workgroup database software that’s compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x. NECC is the world’s largest annual educational technology show. This year it’s being held June 29 – July 2 in Seattle, Washington.
K-12 teachers and administrators at NECC will see more than 10 FileMaker-based solutions, including:
KEYSTONE, a student information system; PORTAL, a school admissions system; ADVOCATE, a college guidance solution; and GENERATIONS, a fund-raising/alumni development system. All are created by
CourseWizard, a product for managing the professional development process, and Dragon Web Surveys, an Internet-based survey tool. Both are created by
Waves in Motion.
Maintenance Tracker from
Learning Pathways, a facilities and technology tracking system designed to manage facility repairs and increase school districts’ operational efficiency.
Web Grades, an online report card solution that’s built to manage the report card process, and InSite for Education, a professional development course registration system designed to help school boards meet training information management needs. Both are products of
eTeacher, a solution designed to help teachers integrate outcome-based curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting; mVal, a system for developing and completing performance appraisals for professional staff or students; and IEP-X, for helping create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. All were created by
FileMaker Pro 6 has a suggested list price of US$299; upgrades are $149. FileMaker Pro 6 shares the same file format as FileMaker Pro 5 and 5.5, so FileMaker Pro 6 solutions work with FileMaker Server 5 and 5.5. The current FileMaker Server software supports FileMaker Pro 5, 5.5 and 6.
FileMaker Pro 6 Unlimited enables publishing FileMaker databases to an unlimited number of Web users over a corporate intranet or the Internet. It costs $999 ($499 upgrade for licensed customers of FileMaker Pro 5 or 5.5 Unlimited). Volume license pricing is available. FileMaker Developer 6, for creating professional FileMaker solutions, includes the features of FileMaker Pro 6, script debugger, database design report and developer tool; it’s priced at $499.
