CPU upgrade card maker PowerLogix has announced lower prices for its line of Blue Chip, iForce and PowerForce G4 upgrades. The processor upgrades with new prices replace the CPUs in PowerBooks, iBooks, and Power Mac models.
PowerLogix has dropped the price of its Blue Chip WS and LS products — G4/500MHz CPU upgrades for “Wall Street”-era and “Lombard” PowerBook G3 models. The new price is US$379, down from $399. The iForce G4/500 upgrade is aimed at early iMacs, and it costs $299, down from $369.
The PowerForce single processor upgrade for Power Mac G4 AGP, Gigabit Ethernet systems is available at 1.2GHz and 1.4GHz for $449 and $599 respectively. The 1.2GHz chip has been dropped $50, and the 1.4GHz system is a new product.
The PowerForce single processor upgrade for Power Mac G4 Digital Audio, Quicksilver and Quicksilver 2002 models is available at the same speeds and at the same prices.
A PowerForce single processor upgrade for the Power Mac G4 Cube is available at 1.0GHz and 1.2GHz for $359 and $459, down from $409 and $515 respectively. The Cube version includes a fan kit.
Single processor upgrades operating at 1.0GHz for Power Mac G4 AGP, Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio, Quicksilver and Quicksilver 2002 systems are now available for $349, down $50.
You’ll also find Power Mac G4 AGP dual processor upgrades running at speeds of 800MHz – 1.4GHz, at prices from $549 to $999 depending on configuration, with price cuts of up to $200.
Finally, Dual Processor upgrades operating at 1.2GHz and 1.4GHz are available for Power Mac G4 Digital Audio, Quicksilver and Quicksilver 2002, for $799 (a $200 drop) and $999 (a new product).
PowerLogix has also posted a commentary about Apple’s Power Mac G5 announcement. The company suggests that businesses looking for “the most bang for the buck” consider upgrading existing machines instead of investing in new heavy iron.
