Avid subsidiary Digidesign has announced Pro Tools v6.1, a new version of its digital audio production technology. The new version has unified its feature set across Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms, enhanced interoperatibility with other Avid technologies, and more.
A new DV Toolkit option adds post-production functionality to Pro Tools LE systems. It includes the DigiTranslator 2.0 option, which provides AAF/OMF file import and export; the AudioSuite plug-in for DINR noise reduction; and the VocALign Project plug-in from Synchro Arts, for dialog replacement.
Also included with Pro Tools 6.1 is support for AVoption|XL, which offers recording and playback of JFIF video resolutions up to 1:1 uncompressed. The FilmFrame option is now standard issue with AVoption|XL, and enables playback of 24P and 25P JFIF video recorded with Avid workstations.
Users of the Windows Pro Tools|HD product will now see support for Avid Unity MediaNetwork shared storage systems, and Mac OS X users will gain that functionality in the third quarter of 2003, according to the developer.
What’s more, Pro Tools 6.1 supports Advanced Authoring Format (AAF), an interchange file format for media sequence import and export. Support has also been added for Propellerhead Software’s ReWire, which lets users route audio from synthesizers, samplers and other host-based instruments directly into Pro Tools for mixing and processing.
Pro Tools 6.1 expands the number of Undo levels from 16 to 32, as well. It supports Core Audio drivers for Mac OS X (Core Audio driver support for Digi 002/Digi 002 Rack systems is anticipated in the third quarter of 2003).
