WiebeTech has announced a 7200RPM version of the MicroGB+ pocket drive. The new configuration, which will begin shipping this week, produces read and write benchmarks of 34MB and 30.5MB per second, respectively, according to WiebeTech President James Wiebe.
The new version of the MicroGB+ uses Hitachi’s latest notebook drive and has a capacity of 60GB. It’s available in a FireWire only version (MicroGB+) or a version supporting FireWire and USB 2.0 (MicroGB+Combo). The former will have a price of US$465.95, while the latter will cost $499.95.
Prices include the drive, necessary cables and a carrying case. The MicroGB+ pocket drive also comes with a copy of MediaFour’s Mac Drive 5 software, which allows Mac formatted drives to be read on Windows computers.
