Sony has released a new line of flat panel displays that are targeted to corporate and government customers. The new US$430 15-inch SDM-X53, $600 17-inch SDM-X73, and $800 19-inch SDM-X93 models are Mac and Windows compatible via an analog input connector.
All feature the ErgoStand control system and ErgoBright technology. The ErgoStand control system lets you customize viewing positions by adjusting the displays’ height, tilt and swivel base. Each model tilts to a variety of positions (up to 20 degrees), has the ability to swivel up to 350 degrees, and can have their height adjusted up to four inches. Each monitor’s bezel design measures less than three-fourths of an inch on each side, making possible side-by-side mounting or stacking of multiple displays.
The ErgoBright technology is designed to automatically adapt to each individual workplace environment by adjusting the display’s brightness as ambient light conditions change. The monitors are available in either two-tone gray or black. The boast both digital and analog inputs, as well as integrated stereo speakers, a headphone jack, a cable management system and internal power supply.
Next month Sony will also introduce a value line of LCDs geared towards corporate and government customers that have a similar look and feel as the X models. The 15-inch S53 and 17-inch S73 displays will be priced at about $330 and $500, respectively. The 19-inch S93 is expected to sell for approximately $750.
