This week’s edition of the User Group Report features a User Group Leadership Conference sponsor, the host group for the User Group Booth, two more Apple Regional Liaison Team members, the monthly MUG (Mac User Group) deals, a review of all the MUG events at next week’s Macworld CreativePro Conference & Expo, and commentary on the closing of Casady & Greene.
The User Group Report is the Internet radio show that features interviews with people making news in the user group community. It’s hosted by Chuck Joiner, editor of The MUG Center, an online resource for Mac user groups.
In this week’s User Group Report, Gary Wilson of Microsoft talks about the company being a Platinum sponsor of the upcoming User Group Leadership Conference. Apple Regional Liaison Team Macbeth Vannoy introduces herself, and her group, the North Coast Macintosh Users Group.
Bill Medlow of the Long Island Macintosh Users Group talks about his group, what they offer, how they get big name speakers, and their position as host of the User Group Booth at CreativePro. Gary Kampel of the Palm Beach Macintosh Users Group talks about becoming a member of the Apple Regional Liaison Team. Lorene Romero, vendor liaison for the User Group Advisory Board, makes her monthly visit to review the MUG-only deals for July.
Apple Regional Liaisons are user group leaders who run successful user groups in their communities. As volunteers, they have made themselves available to help groups in their areas. They also network with groups in their regions and keep Apple informed on local needs.
MUGs are good places for making new friends, finding Mac-loving buddies, boning up your technical expertise, finding solutions to technical problems, and sometimes finding a good deal on used hardware. For more info on MUGs, and to find the location of the one nearest you, go to Apple’s User Group Web page.
