Programmer Yuji Sato has released Bryce2Vue 1.0, a Mac OS X only utility that converts Corel Bryce files to native Vue 4 files.
Bryce 5 is software for creating 3D landscapes and animations. On May 30 Corel announced that it was discontinuing the development of Bryce for the Mac. Vue is a tool from e-on software that’s also designed for the creation of 3D scenery.
Bryce2Vue 1.0 can convert the following objects from Bryce 5 to Vue 4: primitive objects like cone, cube, and torus; terrain and lattice objects; mesh objects; light objects; Boolean operations; and sun and camera positions. (Material conversion or sky conversion aren’t in Bryce2Vue 1.0; PictureMap conversion is planned for the next version.)
Sato, a long time user of Bryce, said he developed Bryce2Vue when Corel Corp. announced that development of Bryce for Mac was ending.
