Network Frontiers has released the third edition of Dorian J. Cougias’ The Backup Book: Disaster Recovery from Desktop to Data Center . ISBN 0-9729039-0-9, the book is now available from Amazon.com, the Web site, and elsewhere.
The Backup Book covers everything from hard drive backups to Storage Area Networks (SANs), along with everything in between. It’s meant as a practical guide to the myriad solutions required for backing up vital computer data.
Cougias culled information from more than 100 vendors, and worked with a team of 300 field editors from seven different countries to put the guide together. “What is great about this book is that it addresses everyone’s needs,” said Cougias. “We cover multiple platforms, including OS X. We go over every type of medium: LTO, AIT, Internet, disk, and even backing data up to your iPod. And we look at costs and ease of deployment and maintenance, because nobody wants to babysit a backup server.”
More details and excerpts are available from the Web site. The 736 page tome carries a suggested retail price of US$49.95, CDN$75.95. The book is published by Schaser-Vartan Books and distributed by IPG.
