Frankfurt, Germany-based SendStation Systems has developed an alternative for third-generation iPod users who don’t want to be saddled with a docking cable: The PocketDock, a FireWire/dock interface that’s smaller than a box of matches.
Third-generation iPods sport a dock interface along their bottom edge. The interface plugs into a special dock that then connects to the Macintosh. The PocketDock provides 6-pin FireWire interface connectivity without requiring users to carry that dock with them.
According to SendStation, the PocketDock also makes third-generation iPods compatible with devices designed to work with previous-model iPods, including car chargers.
The PocketDock will begin shipping this month and carries a suggested retail price of US$16.95. Visit the SendStation Web site for more details.
