Intelli Innovations Inc. has announced its IntelliScanner 5000XL USB Barcode Reader Kit. Designed to help businesses, retailers and educational institutions to track inventory or other material, the solution bundles a barcode scanner, cables, stands and software utilities designed for the Mac.
The Intelliscanner 5000XL kit includes a USB-based barcode scanner featuring manual and automatic triggering, audible scan notification, data editing capabilities, and polycarbonate/ABS exterior. It features a CCD-based scanning array that requires no laser elements to clean and has no moving parts.
Detachable USB cabling is coiled, and includes a locking mechanism to keep the wire and the scanner connected during normal use. If your environment requires it, a desktop stand enables the scanner to work “hands free.” A counter or wall mount holder with desktop pad and mounting holes is also included.
The kit ships with Intelli Innovations’ own ProInventory 1.1 desktop inventory software and xTagger, and alphanumeric label generation software. It generates Code 128 barcodes that can be printed and stuck to inventory items, then rescanned with the IntelliScanner hardware.
What’s more, the kit includes “Library,” a personal book management software developed by ArcaneWare that uses Amazon.com and other sources to get info about books as they are scanned. Library tracks book lending and creates Web-based galleries of book collections. (Library runs in OS X only; other applications support “Classic” Mac OS as well.)
The IntelliScanner 5000XL Kit requires Mac OS X 10.0 or later, or Mac OS 8.6 or later, and a free USB port. It costs US$699.95, plus $10 shipping in the US (or $20 shipping to international locations). Shipments will begin July 25th in limited quantities.
