Griffin Technology Inc. has announced the RadioSHARK, an AM-FM radio for Mac OS X with time-shift and Internet recording capabilities. It will ship this fall for US$49.95; pre-orders are being taken now.
You can use it to listen to and record AM or FM radio broadcasts. RadioSHARK — which has USB connectivity — can also be used to record scheduled radio events or as a way of “pausing” live radio. Additionally, it can record audio Internet streams, either scheduled or real-time, from any streaming audio application.
The fin-shaped RadioSHARK acts as an antenna and can be adjusted and positioned for best reception. Once connected, all radio tuning and control is done via its front-end application. Radio station presets can be set with by clicking a mouse. Recorded material can be transferred to an iPod or any other AIFF compatible digital music player.
Also debuting at the MacWorld CreativePro Conference & Expo is the iFire Amplifier and Adaptor, which lets any FireWire-equipped Mac to connect and power Apple Pro Speakers. Previously, the only Macs that could use the speakers had to have the Pro Speaker Connector. iPods can also play directly through a pair of Apple Pro Speakers with the use of the iPod FireWire power adaptor and the iFire. The iFire, due to ship soon, can be pre-ordered for $39.99.
