A 64-bit/66MHz PCI Expansion System is now available from Magma. It adds the ability to add seven 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots, on a single bus segment, to any PCI-based Mac.
A typical host computer or server includes four or less high-speed PCI slots, which aren’t enough for some high-end applications, according to Brian Stech, national sales and marketing manager for Magma Expansion Products at Mobility Electronics. The 64-bit/66MHz PCI Expansion System offers the capability to add more PCI slots that are capable of data transfer rates up to 5Gbps full duplex.
The system connects to the host computer with a 64/66 PCI host interface card and high-speed cables. The PCI host interface can be connected to any PCI slot in the host computer. Several configurations are available.
For server applications, the rack-mount enclosure comes standard with a 400W power supply, with an optional 300W redundant power supply. For OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), non-enclosed board-sets are offered and can be used to integrate the PCI expansion technology into an existing ATX style enclosure.
