LightWork Design has launched the LightWorks Automotive Pack, which is designed for automotive stylists, designers, and engineers.
Based on LightWorks, the rendering engine for 3D design, the Automotive Pack is designed to let these uses visualize their products at various stages of the design, development, and manufacturing process. LightWorks itself is a Mac OS X compatible set of software components that are licensed to software development companies who then integrate it into their applications. The Automotive Pack is offered as a complete solution: an SDK (software development kit), documentation, and a range of support services.
The LightWorks Automotive Pack contains sketch rendering for styling, real-time hardware-assisted pre-visualization, Interactive Image Regeneration, and rendering of NURB surfaces with support for any type and complexity of trimming curve. The results, according to LightWork Design, are faster rendering, higher quality images without polygonal silhouettes, and more efficient integration with the application’s geometric database.
Thanks to the solution’s LWA-Enabled support, you can download add-on materials and other objects online, as well as a library of industrial-specific procedural shaders for visualizing anisotropic and brushed metals, multi-layer metallic and clear coat paint finishes, decals, translucent plastics, metals, surface curvature, and smoothness.
The LightWork Design Automotive Pack also makes it possible to visualize Mold-Tech surface finishes from Standex International, the industry standard surface grains used in mold finishing for instrument panels, and interior and exterior fittings.
