FirewireDirect.com Inc. has introduced the MachIV, a 2.5-inch hard drive based storage device. It offers FireWire and USB 2.0 in a half-inch thick, titanium-style form factor.
The MachIV has one Firewire 400 port and one USB 2.0 port (which is backwards compatible with USB 1.1). It ships with FireWire and USB cables, a power supply, and carrying case. The MachIV is available as a finished product with capacities from 20MB to 80GB of storage or as an enclosure kit.
The storage device comes with the Mac compatible SpeedTools Utility Suite, which includes DeviceTuner, Disk Defrag, Integrity, QuickBack and QuickBench. The suite is compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x.
