Peripheral maker D-Link has announced its DFB-H7 QuickMedia USB 2.0/FireWire 7-Port Combo Hub. The device combines four USB 2.0 and three FireWire ports to enable users to simultaneously connect a large number of different peripherals through a single hub.
D-Link’s new combo hub is expected to arrive on store shelves in August — the same month that Apple’s own Power Mac G5 will ship. The Power Mac G5 is first Mac to feature USB 2.0 ports.
The QuickMedia hub is externally powered. It also supports over-current detection for any device plugged into the hub. It requires no dirvers to work and supports Macs and PCs. It ships with a FireWire cable and a six-foot USB 2.0 cable as well.
Look for the DFB-H7 to hit retail stores with a suggested retail price of US$49.99.
