Trillium Lane Labs has announced its TL MasterMeter for DigiDesign Pro Tools. The software is billed as the first oversampling digital meter for Pro Tools, and it’s coming next month.
With TL MasterMeter, Pro Tools users can model how digital mixes are reproduced on a CD player. The software helps to identify potential intersample peaks, to ensure that final mixes don’t create undesirable signal clipping.
TL MasterMeter sports 2x, 4x and 8x oversampling DSP models and displays both regular and intersample peaks. A sample historical peak list is maintained to let mixing and mastering engineers to identify peaks anywhere in a session; peak lists can also be saved to the Clipboard for later review.
Look for a white paper explaining more about digital distortion and how oversampling meters can help to be posted to Trillium Lane Labs’ Web site next week.
TL MasterMeter is coming to Pro Tools 6.x on Mac OS X, and will be available in August for a retail price of US$199. Trillium Lane Labs also makes available a bundle with TL Metro and TL InTune for $349.
