BlackBall Inc. has announced the release of a new version of BB-Tuner, a standalone software-based chromatic tuner to help musicians tune their instruments using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The new version adds Mac and PocketPC support, as well as 100 .MP3 songs from selected MP3.com artists.
In BB-Tuner’s Professional Strobe Display Mode, the software shows a circular strobe with a series of concentric circles that turn clockwise on sharp notes, counter-clockwise on flats, and goes solid when a note is right on target.
It also incorporates a tone generator for musicians who prefer to tune by ear, and is compatible with popular Digital Audio Workstations. BB Tuner also sports new features like tap tempo, chord dictionary, drum machine, bad string detection and an instrument intonation setup wizard. BB-Tuner provides accuracy of an audio signal with a +/- 1 percent margin of error, according to the developers.
BB-Tuner is available online for US$39.95 and can also be purchased at retailers.
