AlwaysOn, a media company dedicated to “connecting global leaders and technology industry insiders whose ideas and innovations are shaping the always-on world,” has given Apple the Top Innovation Award for the iTunes Music Store.
“If you’re a Mac user, you are pumped,” AlwaysOn said in praising the digital music store. “Perhaps the reason why the music execs and artists took a risk on Apple is because of their limited market share. The bottom line is that Apple has delivered the first online music solution that elegantly bridges Silicon Valley and Hollywood interests. The war is finally over.”
AlwaysOn named Google the Company of the Year and the Consumer Technology Company of the Year. Salesforce.com won the AO Business-to-Business Company of the Year award. The awards were presented at the AO2003 Innovation Summit at Stanford University last week. Google, Salesforce.com, and Apple — along with the AO100 companies and the AO12 venture capital funds — were honored at a reception.
