Creative Technology Ltd.
has announced two new additions to its I-Trigue speaker line. One ships now and the other is anticipated for release next month. Both are 2.1 (2 satellites, one subwoofer) speaker systems compatible with Macs, PCs and other devices, including Apple’s iPod.
Both systems sport 100 watts of system power and feature bi-amplification. The speakers in the new systems feature Lateral Firing Transducers (LFTs), which Creative claims accurately reproduces low mid-range frequencies — a frequent shortcoming of many 2.1 satellite speakers. The speakers feature forward-firing titanium micro drivers.
The I-Trigue L3500 is the model that ships now; it’s available with silver and black accents. The L3450 is structurally identical to the L3500, except it ships in a white finish designed to go with the iPod (and, by extension, the white models in Apple’s Mac lineup, like the iBook, iMac and eMac). The L3450 ships in August.
Both sound systems also include a wired remote control complete with M-PORT (used to stream music from Creative’s NOMAD MuVo players); the remote control affects volume, power and bass, and also features a line input and headphone jack.
Both the L3500 and L3450 are priced at US$149.99. Visit Creative’s Web site for details.
