Storage peripheral maker WiebeTech LLC has announced the release of a 300GB model to its Fire800 and DesktopGB+ lines. The company has also announced price cuts to both lines as well.
The Fire800 models sports FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 connectivity, while the DesktopGB+ line features FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 connectivity. Both chassis configurations are fanless and built of aluminum cases. Also, WiebeTech bundles Mac Drive 5 software with both systems, which enables the Mac-formatted drives to be seen as native Windows drives by PCs.
The new 300GB Fire800 model comes equipped with a 5400RPM mechanism and costs US$589.95. The Fire800 line is available in capacities ranging from a 0GB do-it-yourself model to a 250GB version; price cuts on those models range from $30 to $60 depending on capacity. The Fire800 drives include a vertical stand for desktop use, 3 different FireWire 800 and 400 cables, USB cable and AC adapter.
The new 300GB DesktopGB+ model carries a retail price of $539.95, and also uses a 5400RPM mechanism. The DesktopGB+ line is also available in configurations ranging from 0GB to 250GB, and price cuts on those models range from $20 to $60 depending on configuration. DesktopGB+ drives include a vertical stand, FireWire cable, USB cable and AC adapter.
