Formac Electronic Inc. has updated its Devideon DVD authoring software, adding the ability to detect and incorporate chapter marks inserted in iMovie 3 editing software.
Devideon is Formac’s DVD-R authoring system — an external FireWire-based DVD recorder bundled together with authoring software. The hardware is based on Pioneer’s DVR-A05 mechanism and has the ability to burn DVDs at 4x speed. Devideon works on any G3 or faster Mac with FireWire installed from the factory, and functions in Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.x.
The update also supports Pioneer’s A05 as well as A06 mechanisms. Along with updated software, Formac has cut the price on the DVD authoring package to US$299 — which includes the FireWire DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW combo drive.
