LightWork Design announced Thursday that LightWorks 7.3 is headed for an “imminent release.” The company indicated that a pre-release version of the software is now available.
LightWorks is a 3D rendering engine used in advanced 3D computer graphics software. It’s licensed by companies that produce 3D graphics solutions for both Mac, Unix and Windows operating systems, including Ashlar’s Cobalt and auto-des-sys’s form.Z.
The new version of LightWorks includes cross-platform plug-in shaders written in LightWorks’ own shader language. The new plug-in shaders work the same way regardless of platform and don’t require recompiling, and work in within any LightWorks-based application. They’re encapsulated in LWA format, and have full access to the shading infrastructure employed by the LightWorks engine.
What’s more, LightWorks supports up to 40-percent faster performance. IIR rendering has been particularly improved and uses less memory. And has been previously announced, LightWorks 7.3 includes cross-platform support for RPC files and LightWorks Real-time for the Mac.
