Discreet will demo combustion 2.1 — the latest version of its desktop 3D compositing, effects, and vector paint software — at next week’s Siggraph 2003 trade show in San Diego, Calif.
Version 2 of the software was released in January 2002 and added new multi-format project capabilities for film and video, including 64-bit image-processing, advanced film grain tools and color Look-Up Table (LUT) management. combustion 2 sells for US$4,995.
To help jump start the combustion experience and fully understand its functionalities and capabilities, the Discreet team has developed 30 professionally created workspaces that offer a starting point to explore some of the creative possibilities the product offers. Examples and “how to’s” of the available workspaces are available online.
Also, Discreet plans to announce a new product for the 3D sector on Monday, although the company hasn’t released any other details. Discreet and Oregon 3D will also be teaming up to offer 3ds max and combustion advanced training sessions. Siggraph is the annual international conference for professionals in 2D and 3D graphics and multimedia design.
