Mac repair and maintenance service provider MacResQ on Friday announced an extension of their PowerBookResQ program. Now the company will upgrade the optical drives on customers’ PowerBook G4 with a DVD/CD burner.
The service is available to users of PowerBook G4/400 – 1GHz machines whose systems come currently equipped with either CD-RW or DVD “Combo” drives installed from the factory. PowerBookResQ will replace that existing optical drive with a slot loading “SuperDrive” DVD-R/CD-RW mechanism that is bootable, compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9, iDVD, iTunes, Disc Burner, Apple DVD Player and other third-party applications.
The drive reads CDs at 24x, writes CD-Rs at 16x, writes CD-RWs at 8x, and writes DVD-R/RW media at 1x. PowerBookResQ warrants the drive for one year.
The price for the “SuperDrive” upgrade is US$399. That price includes pick-up at your location, overnight delivery to the PowerBookResQ service center, installation within 24 hours, and overnight return.
