Imposer Pro for Adobe InDesign will be released Aug. 1 by A Lowly Apprentice Production Inc. (ALAP). The imposition solution will be compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.2, and Adobe InDesign 2.x.
Imposer Pro provides imposed page configurations from 2-up printer spreads to 8-up printer flats, as well as multi-page signatures and multiple sheets. It supports tiling — which allows any size flat to be output to any size output device.
It doesn’t rearrange or shuffle pages in a document, but accomplishes reordering in the print stream. Imposition types include 2-Up, 4-Up, 8-Up, Work & Turn, Work & Tumble, Split Web, and Sheet Wise. You can start an imposition at any page in the document, specifying your signature size and page orientation as well as control for creep, bleed and crossover trapping.
Once it’s set up, you can save it as a style that can be reused by yourself or exported and used by others. You can also save a copy of your imposed document for later use or archiving.
Imposer Pro has a price tag of US$399.99. Upgrades from InBooklet 2.x bought before Aug. 1 will cost $199.99; upgrades for purchases made afterward are $299.99. Available now is a version of Imposer Pro for QuarkXpress (3.3, 4.1, and 5.0).
