MicroImages Inc. says the next version (6.9) of their TNT products will be full optimized for Panther, the next revision of Mac OS X, and the 64-bit Power Mac G5s.
The TNT product line includes TNTmips (for geospatial analysis), TNTedit (which provides professional interactive tools to create, georeference, and edit project materials consisting of vector, image, CAD, TIN, and relational database objects), TNTview (an integrated system for visualizing and interpreting geospatial project materials of various types), TNTserver (for publishing geodata), and TNTsdk (a software development kit).
“MicroImages’ production of this new 64-bit version for Mac OS X 10.3 (alias Panther) will require minimal effort, since all the TNT products were previously provided for the 64-bit platform from Compaq (Alpha/DEC Alpha OSF),” reads a note on the company’s Web site. “Thus the new 64-bit version for the Power Mac G5 will be available as part of the October 2003 release of the TNT products V6.9. Before the October release, weekly updated Development Versions for beta testing will be available.”
There’ll be no price differences between the current 32-bit versions of the products and the new 64-bit version. MicroImages clients who have a Power Mac G5 can install both versions and choose which to run. However, some legacy software or peripherals may require the 32-bit version.
