Mac upgrade maker Sonnet Technologies Inc. has announced price reductions on processor upgrade cards, PCI drive controller cards and USB/FireWire combo cards.
The company’s Encore/ST 1.0GHz and 1.2GHz upgrade are now $30 less than before, at US$399.95 and $499.95 respectively. Those upgrades are designed to fit into various AGP-slot-equipped Power Mac G4s (a complete list is available from Sonnet’s Web site).
The price on the Encore/ZIF G4 1.0GHz upgrade has dropped as well — down $100 to $499.95. this system is designed to fit into “platinum” (or beige) G3 desktops, minitowers, servers and all-in-one systems. Other Encore/ZIF upgrades are available for “blue and white” G3s and PCI-based G4s too.
Crescendo/PCI G3 and G4 upgrades are down, as well — $10 off the G3 500MHz to $169.95; $30 less for the G4/700MHz upgrade, to $269.95 and $30 less for the G4/800MHz upgrade, to $369.95. Crescendo/PCI upgrades are compatible with many Power Mac 7300 – 9600 systems, related models and clones based off the same reference motherboard designs.
Sonnet has cut prices by $10 on its Tempo HD Hard Drive Controller cards — with a 30GB drive, the card is now $219.95, and with a 40GB drive, $239.95. Tempo HD cards fit in most Power Mac systems and Performas and related clones equipped with PCI expansion slots. The list is extensive — check Sonnet’s site for details.
Sonnet also has taken $10 off the price of its Tango 2.0 expansion card — a PCI card with FireWire (400) and USB 2.0 interfaces. It’s now $79.95.
