Chaotic Software has updated Web Devil, its Web downloading software and WebTimer, the Web URL downloading application. Both are compatible with Mac OS X (10.2 and higher) and Mac OS 9.x.
Web Devil lets you download Web sites for offline browsing, extracting Web site images, backgrounds, HTML, JavaScript, Shockwave and more. Version 5.5 adds the ability to “throttle” Web Devil, so that it only creates a connection as often as you like, instead of as fast as possible. This makes Web Devil more compatible with certain Web sites that only allow a fixed number of connections in a certain time interval, according to Chaotic Software.
There’s also an updated User Guide. Web Devil costs US $34.95, though version 5.5 is a free update to registered users.
WebTimer can be used to continually download a single URL from the Internet, which is useful if you want to monitor Web-cam sites. Version 2.0 has been completely rewritten in Cocoa to take advantage of Mac OS X features.
Web Timer costs $9.95. Trial versions are available at the Chaotic Software Web site.
Chaotic Software has also announced a promotion that combines all three of its Internet/Web tools in a $39.95 bundle. The WebSuite promo includes Web Devil 5.5, WebTimer 2.0, and Web Watcher 1.3. The latter informs you of changes to your favorite Web sites so that you don’t have to repeatedly check them yourself for updates.
