Macromedia has released
a beta version of Flash Player, its Web browser plug-in. The new beta purportedly improves video performance by 15-70 percent and enhances video quality (for instance, video quality concerning gradients is better).
The Flash Player beta is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2, Netscape 7.x, Mozilla 1.x, AOL 7, Opera 6, and Safari 1.0 on Mac OS X (10.2 and higher) and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1, Netscape 4.8, Netscap 7.x, Mozilla 1.x, and Opera 6 on Mac OS 9.x.
The public beta is only available in English at this time. Macromedia will be offering the player in international languages upon final release — though the release date hasn’t been determined.
