Daystar Technology is shipping XLR8 MachSpeed Control, software to tweak the operational characteristics of the XLR8-branded Mac CPU upgrades that Daystar now makes. It also works with most third party upgrades, as well.
XLR8 MAChSpeed Control manages firmware patches for beige G3s running G4 CPUs, handles automated cache profiling, verification and testing, automatic cache reset, verification of available cache speeds, RAM memory check and review, and many other features.
The software is being offered in Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 versions. The Mac OS 9 version works with 9.0 – 9.2.2, while the OS X version works with 10.0 to 10.2, and is anticipated to work with Mac OS X 10.3, “Panther,” as well.
MAChSpeed Control — OS 9 costs US$9.95, and is now being included with all new XLR8-brand products made by Daystar — any product purchased through Daystar is upgraded free of charge. MAChSpeed Control — OS X costs $17.95, and is also bundled free with 450, 466, 500, 533 and 550MHz G4 upgrades purchased directly from Daystar.
