Kamar Aulakh has been named as the president of Quark Inc., while executive team members Jürgen Kurz, Debra Hansen, and Susan Friedman will assume greater responsibilities. Fred Ebrahimi — formerly president, chairman and CEO — will continue in the latter two positions.
Quark says that, as president, Aulakh — who will report directly to the company’s board of directors — “will improve the interoperability of Quark’s products and services.” Ebrahimi will focus on the long-term growth of the company.
Aulakh, who joined Quark in 1995, has held a variety of roles at the company, most recently vice president of research and development. Kurz has been promoted to senior vice president of product development. He’ll be leading the development of Quark’s publishing products — from product management, to research and development, through quality assurance.
Hansen is now senior vice president of worldwide sales and services. She’ll oversee all of Quark’s enterprise sales, professional services, system integration, and custom development. As the new senior vice president of marketing, Friedman will assume responsibility for all marketing and communications activities worldwide, including business development, strategic relationships, and the development of new QuarkAlliance programs.
