InFocus Corp. has introduced two new, wireless-ready, installation projectors: the US$7,999 LP840 and the $8,999 LP850. Due to ship later this summer, both support LiteShow, InFocus’ secure wireless digital projection, and ProjectorNet, a client/server-based networking solution that lets IT and facilities personnel manage multiple projectors from a single computer.
The new LP840 and LP850 include motorized zoom, focus and lens shift to accommodate a variety of room sizes and configurations. They have four optional user-replaceable bayonet lenses; the standard lens has a throw ratio of 2.2:1 to 1.5:1. Both projectors boast a 36 dB “whisper mode” designed to reduce audible noise in smaller venues (it’s 40 dB in normal operation).
The LP840 projects at 3500 lumens; the LP850 projects 4500 lumens. Both have a native resolution of 1,024 x 768 (with support for data sources up to UXGA) and a contrast ratio of 750:1. Their aspect ratio is 4:3 native, but they support 5:4 and 16:9. Both the LP840 and the LP850 come with three computer inputs (M1-D, DSUB 15 and 5x BNC), a USB port, a stereo input, and three video inputs (component, composite and S-video).
