piDog Software has released FontThing for Mac OS X, a utility that lets you preview, install and activate fonts from any location. You preview fonts by double-clicking a font in the Finder or by dragging files or folders to the FontThing icon.
Catalogs of fonts can be printed or saved to a PDF file through Mac OS X’s Print dialog. You can activate fonts with a single click for use in any application — even while the font file resides outside your fonts folder.
FontThing is made with the RealBasic development environment from REAL Software Inc. It’s now available for download and costs US$10 to register.
