Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne has sold over one million units worldwide, according to EDI sell-through, internal company estimates, and reports from key retail accounts around the world.
It’s the eighth Blizzard product to sell a million copies and to reach number one in U.S. sales. The game, which began shipping on July 1, is topping computer sales charts in North America, Europe and Asia. It’s available for Mac OS X (10.1.3 and higher), Mac OS 9.x and Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. However, there are no stats on exactly what percent of the one million units sold were to Mac users.
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne picks up where Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos left off. Several months have passed since Archimonde and the Burning Legion were defeated at Mount Hyjal. Now the Night Elf renegade Illidan and the Death Knight Arthas are determined to reach Icecrown Glacier, the icy prison of the soul of the evil Lich King Ner’zhul. The game costs US$35.
