PowerBook G4s are known for their power, as well as their tendency to get a bit warm. Antec Inc., a company that makes computer hardware and accessories, is offering an US$39.95 product that can help with the heat: the Notebook Cooler.
Designed to keep laptops cool with its dual ball bearing, 70mm fans, it’s USB-powered so you need no batteries or a power adapter. It comes with a 30-inch USB power cable; the Notebook Cooler also has an included pass-through connector that keeps your Mac’s USB ports free for other uses.
Sitting underneath a laptop, the NoteBook Cooler draws a constant flow of cool air across the bottom. Fans draw cool air in and exhaust hot air out. Its aluminum surface (with 388 ventilation holes) conducts heat away from the laptop’s body.
The Notebook Cooler weighs 1.6 pounds, measures 13 x 11.2 x .85 inches, and has an acoustic noise level of 25.9dB.
