UK-based Mac game publisher Virtual Programming Ltd. announced plans to bring to the Mac market KnightShift, a real time strategy/role playing game hybrid.
In KnightShift, you assume the role of the prince of a medieval fantasy kingdom who has returned from a mystical banishment to another dimension to fight the powers of evil that sent him there and restore his kingdom to its former glory. The game features three story-driven campaigns, each taking place in a different geographical area and bound by different goals. An RPG mode adds maps, quests, different weapons and enemies and improved character development.
KnightShift will be published for the PC by Zuxxez Entertainment AG. Zuxxez is a Germany game publisher whose library includes the assets of Topware Interactive AG. The game is being developed by Reality Pump Studios — the same company responsible for titles including Earth 2150. KnightShift’s Mac conversion is being handled by frequent Virtual Publishing Ltd. collaborator Coderus.
Virtual Programming Ltd. offered no details on KnightShift’s Mac release schedule, though the game is still in development for the PC: Zuxxez said it’s headed for release in the third quarter of 2003.
