Apple subsidiary Emagic on Tuesday announced the release of Logic Platinum 6.2, a new version of their music production software. The new version is optimized for the Power Mac G5, which just began shipping on Monday. Logic Platinum combines composition, notation and audio production tools.
Emagic said that the new version adds speed and performance on G5s, and allows users to work on “noticeably larger projects.” The Logic Platinum and G5 combo provide the ability to handle more software instruments as well as more audio tracks and effects plug-ins.
Logic Platinum 6.2 is required if you plan to run the software on a G5; it’s being made available as a free download for registered Logic Platinum 6.x users now.
Logic Platinum 6.2 also includes special performance optimizations intended for Power Mac G5 dual processor configurations. Those machines are not yet shipping; Apple yesterday began single-processor configurations, though dual-processor systems are expected to ship by the end of the month.
