Apple’s own Games site turns its attention to Star Trek Elite Force II, a new first-person action game due out this October from Aspyr Media. Penned by Brad Cook, this preview includes screenshots and other details about the forthcoming game, just recently released for the PC.
Borrowing from Star Trek folklore, Star Trek Elite Force II picks up the story of Lieutenant Munro, leader of a special cadre of security guards originally set up to protect the USS Voyager during her dangerous trip through the Delta Quadrant — the basis of Elite Force II’s predecessor, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.
With the ship’s successful return to the Federation (as seen in the Voyager TV series finale), Munro is reassigned to Captain Jean-Luc Picard to lead a hazard team for the Enterprise. Needless to say, Munro and the team are thrust into hazardous situations almost immediately, including familiar foes like the Borg, and unfamiliar antagonists as well.
Cook noted that the game features various puzzles and secrets you’ll need to solve and uncover to progress, with a total of 70 maps — including some you’ll need to unlock. The game also features a multiplayer component called Holomatch that let you take on other players online (or computer controlled bots, if you prefer).
